Jubilee 2025 - Pilgrims of Hope
FROM THE OFFICE OF THE ARCHBISHOP
September 3, 2024

Pope Francis has announced that the year 2025 is an Ordinary Jubilee Year. The theme for this Jubilee Year is “Pilgrims of Hope.” It is based upon the words of the Letter to the Romans 5:5, “Hope does not disappoint.”

The Jubilee will begin with the opening of the Holy Door at St. Peter’s Basilica on Tuesday 24 December 2024. On Sunday 29 December 2024 a special liturgy for the opening of the Jubilee will be celebrated in cathedrals around the world, including our own St. Francis Xavier Cathedral. The Jubilee Year will conclude with the closing of the Holy Door on 6 January 2026.

In order for the faithful of our Archdiocese to participate more fully in the Jubilee Year, a special Jubilee Pilgrimage has been organized by the Archdiocese of Nassau. It is scheduled for October 7-15, 2025. This will allow our pilgrims to pass through the Holy Door at St. Peter’s and to visit other pilgrimage sites as well.

A special flier is attached to our Archdiocesan website (archdioceseofnassau.org). There you will find information regarding the pilgrimage. I, myself, will be making this pilgrimage of October 7-15, 2025. It will be a privileged occasion for us to share in the treasures of our Catholic Faith.

Devotedly yours in Christ,
Most Reverend Patrick C. Pinder, S.T.D., C.M.G., K.C.*H.S.
Archbishop of Nassau
